I signed up for learning extension right away after school was over. Started reviewing everyday for just 120min a day (120 min=one session on a desktop at the local library). Probably could have just skipped straight to the practice questions to see where I needed to review because it was all categorized and easy to find. Rationales were 100x better in this program than Saunders/Silvestri (where the rationale is usually "b is not the correct answer because it is wrong...") Along with this and Picmonic.com to explain in detail how to remember things, I believe this is all I needed to get through the NCLEX. Forget those expensive Hurst / Kaplan reviews. This one is straight from NCSBN so they would know what is on the test. During the test day I felt 100% prepared knowing I received my review from learning extension. I took the test 8 weeks after graduating and passed in 75 questions in Illinois.
First and only go. PASSED in 75 Questions. It's real.
I FINALLY PASSED after 3 years!
I graduated from a non-accredited school in May of 2013 and with many set backs I attempted to take my boards. I failed the first time due to high test anxiety and got out of the test center as soon as possible. I got very discouraged and waiting until February of 2016 to try again. This time I thought I was pretty ready and took all 265 questions and again failed! I was so disappointed in myself I wasn't sure what I was going to do. I stumbled on this course and thought, I NEED SOMETHING DIFFERENT! My old studying style was just hundreds of questions daily. I knew I was a little behind on my content as it has been almost 3 years since I had graduated. So I thought, I will try the 5 week course and give it a try. I literally worked during the day and left my house and studied in the evenings, I have about 8 full notebooks of notes from this course! I did not see my husband or kids those 5 weeks but BOY DID IT PAY OFF!! I went in 2 days after my 5 week course was complete and sat down uneasy! My computer shut off around 110 questions and I was so upset with that feeling of "I had failed again!" 2 days went by and I received an email with MY LICENSE NUMBER!! I HAD PASSED! 3rd time was a charm for me and I cannot thank NCSBN more! I feel like I passed because of my dedication, focus and this course material! Thank you thank you!
To everyone that hasn't passed, keep it up! I honestly did not think I would ever pass! But I finally have RN behind my name! With dedication, and putting things on the backburner for only a short time (it is hard missing the fun with the family, but it really is necessary) YOU CAN DO IT! Good Luck!
How I passed the NCLEX in 75 questions first time!
Hi everyone, I found the NCSBN 5-week plan to be really helpful. It allowed me to know what I need to study and for how long each day. I liked that once I put in the amount of hours allocated for that day, I could relax guilt-free knowing I did enough for that day. It also let me "digest" the information without too much overload! I did almost all of the practice questions. They are really useful for getting the hang of the types of questions to expect on the actual NCLEX. I didn't use any other resources except for the NCLEX mastery app. I never did an expensive hurst review or purchased uWorld. I honestly think this is the best review out there especially since it's created by the same people who write the NCLEX (and it's cheaper than a lot of other stuff out there).
I wish you all the best! Good luck!
About the PVT
Can someone did the PVT a couple hours after taking the and had the good pop up, and later checked again and got your card has been declined and still passed??
Low Post-Test scores!
I recently took NCLEX-RN July 11th and failed with 265 questions. As some of you know, I am very depressed and hard on myself of my failure. I used a 3 day Hurst review held at my school and purchased Kaplan Qbank for practice questions. I felt pretty confident going into test day but knew I could have practiced more questions.
After a week of vacation with my family I am ready to being studying again and this time with a much more positive attitude and ready to pass on my second attempt at the end of August. I decided to purchase the 5 week review course and so far have only gotten to lesson 3. However, my post-test scores from lesson 1 and 2 aren't above passing and are actually below the passing standard. I am now feeling discouraged ONCE AGAIN and really questioning this review course. How is everyone else's scores? Has anyone had success in passing their second try with this review course?
I need some encouragement!!! Or even a study buddy in Wisconsin?!
I pass my nuclex PN first time!!!!!
knowing that my date was approaching soon for me to take my test, i decided to give learning extension a try. prior to that i did ATI which was provided by my school, mastery pn app. and then the learning app. i did not see the some questions but familiar questions but which i thought helped . i went in on Monday, did all 205 questions . Mean while praying the whole entire time...after 48 hrs found out that i pass . Thank you Jesus!!!!!!!
I passed with 130 questions!
I'm very thankful and happy to have used this review course because i passed the nclex. i will definitely recommend this to my fellow future RNs. the questions are very similar to the exam. thank you NCSBN!!!
Passed NCLEX 2nd time around!
Hello friends!
I promised myself that I would write a testimonial if I passed my second time taking the test so here it is. Hope this is encouraging to someone!
After I graduated from nursing school a couple months ago in May, I decided to use ATI to help me with NCLEX prepping because my school had offered it for free. I had access to all the resources online and I even had a coach I was required to work with. I was required to message her before I could move on to the next step of the study guide, so I interacted with her a lot. I was studying about 6 - 8 hours a day for about a month and by the time my test came around, I was burnt out. At the same time, I was super nervous because I was taking the exam a week before my start date at my new job, so I had a lot of pressure on me. The day of my exam, I was frazzled and feeling nauseous all day up until my exam because my exam was at 2PM. Once I got in and did all my fingerprinting and paperwork, I sat down and instantly, I had a panic attack. It was hard for me to breath and my the screen became fuzzy. It was the first time I had ever had test anxiety or even a panic attack; it was one of the most unpleasant experiences I've ever had. I didn't know what to do so I just sat there for an hour trying to answer questions that I couldn't comprehend because of how hazy the screen was. As the second hour came around, I finally started to understand the questions, but my body was overworked and tired from my panic attack so it was hard for me to focus. I ended up getting all 265 questions and I cried as I got into my car because I felt like I had failed. The two day wait killed me; I couldn't stop thinking about the test and how mortified I would be if I failed. As you guys can assume, I did fail and I was absolutely devastated. I fell into depression for a couple weeks where I couldn't stop thinking about how much of a failure I was. As much as it sucked, I kept having to tell myself that the test didn't define who I was and just because I failed the exam, it didn't make me a failure at life.
I still had some time left with my ATI coach so I started working on that again slowly, but I was constantly reminded that I failed using ATI so I decided to change it up, which is how I found ncsbn learning extension. This program saved my life; I had three weeks up until my next test day, which was two days ago, and I got so much out of it. I reviewed the subject folders for a week and then did 150 questions a day for two weeks up until my test. Make sure to read all the solution explanations as well, because that is what helped me the most. I liked how this program was straightforward and the question format is almost identical to the questions on the NCLEX, which helped me a lot while I was taking the test. Because the questions looked familiar, I was able to focus on the content and what the question was asking.
For the second test, the things I did right: I scheduled my test for 8AM so I wouldn't have to stress about it all day, took my anti-anxiety medications (a beta blocker to control my physical symptoms; I had these prescribed to me after I had failed my first time), and told myself to take one question at a time and to just trust my first instinct when choosing answers. I ended up getting all 265 questions and I thought I failed because I felt like the questions kept getting easier, but I focused on each question, instead of looking at what number I was at. I'm not one of those people who passed with 75 questions either, so don't be discouraged when the computer shoots you more questions after 75. Know that the system still believes in you and wants to make sure you are capable. Take one question at a time. By the way, my nurse manager was very understanding, so she ended up extending my start date which I was very thankful for. Hope this was encouraging or helpful to someone! Believe in yourself because you made it all the way through nursing school, which we all can testify was not an easy feat! You can do it!
Foreign Schooled Nurse...Passed NCLEX RN with 75 questions
The NCLEX is truly an exam that pushes you and anyone can do it with focused studies. When i started my prep for this exam i thought it was so hard but then i put in a lot of hours especially while caring for a toddler and being pregnant. One thing that i think gives you a huge chance to pass this exam is to KNOW YOUR CONTENT. Tricks out there didn't count for me, personally i feel like it only works 10% of the time and so taking this exam with tricks as the biggest tool could make one end up failing. One thing that i found super helpful was the UWORLD nclex question bank. This was incredible and helped me pass. This exam is difficult and pushes you but with focus it can be crushed!!!!
Passed my NCLEX-RN on the 2nd time :)
after finishing nursing school, I took hurst review. I didn't find this helpful for whatever reason. Also, the material that they provide seemed very broad and unclear; It didn't help me to pass on my first attempt obviously lol. I ended up with 265 questions and I already knew I was going to fail. Another reason why I didn't pass is because I focus a lot on material, instead of practicing questions. SO DON'T FOCUS SO MUCH ON MATERIAL, JUST KEEP PRACTICING ON QUESTIONS!
A lot of people said "you'll do fine, because if you through nursing school, you will nail NCLEX." Well.... they were wrong. The way NCLEX questions are worded is not the same as your regular exam that you take during nursing school. My advise is, no matter how many questions you practice or how much material you memorize, you should get yourself familiar with the practice questions from this resource. Keep in mind that the people who wrote the NCLEX questions are the same people who wrote the practice questions on the NCSBN learning extension.
On my 2nd attempt, I ended up with 75 questions (at least 45 of them were SATA) and in middle of the test, I already knew that i'm gonna pass ^_^
Also, keep in mind no matter how many times you failed, PASSING NCLEX IS DO-ABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!
ohhh I forgot to mention how I handled my stress after I found out that I didn't pass on the first time. Well... I go to the gym and thinking that the punching-bag is the people from NCSBN LOL.
Passed in 75 Questions!!!!!!
Hello! So let me tell you about my Nclex journey. I graduated from nursing school in September of 2014. Did not get my ATT until November of 2014. Took my exam in January 2015. Failed in 6 hrs with 265 questions. Retook exam in April 2015. Failed again, 6hrs all 265 questions. I went wrong in thinking 1, try to answer as many questions as possible..2, not eating a good breakfast, powering up on Mountain Dew..and after the first few hrs, you get tired. Your mind is beat, you lose focus. Took some time off for a while, oh not to mention, during this time, I went through a divorce after 8yrs...and we have 3 young kiddos. Yes, life was stressful. So, October of 2015, retook exam. Failed. Answered 105 questions or so in 4 hrs, computer shut off. Thought I passed. Nope I did not. When I failed that time, I had solely used Kaplan. The previous two times, I had Nclex Mastery App and Your Best Grade (which is what I used to pass the HESI). Anywho...was confused by Kaplan's program. Their program in my opinion only worked for prioritization questions. Which I was NOT getting any questions on..which I found out later are the kind of questions you want. (They are the higher level) passing standard. The lower level questions are the ones that are factual, signs & symptoms/recall information questions. But I also knew, I didnt do all of Kaplan 1000+ question bank, so I said on my 4th attempt, let me utilize the whole program...nope after 76 questions, 2hrs, I failed...yet again. Cried like a baby. And this was March of 2016 now. So took more time off. By the time I got my ATT, I kept changing my test date..I'll say a minimum of 10 times. I told myself something has to change...but what? So I contacted Kaplan again, sat in on one of their classes...but then something else came to mind, if I was unsuccessful two times with their program, what am I doing wrong? Yep! It was ME!! I was lacking content!! That was the missing link! The thing is some nursing schools, dont prepare you for boards, and they dont teach to the level of difficulty that's required to pass. So a friend of mines and I bulked up on Hursts content. Their content is A1! They break it down and make you connect the dots, where you might not had before. I'll be honest, I did not go through NCSBNs content because I like to hold my paper and highlight, make notes. BUT, I did do the 1000+ practice questions, and read the rationales. 100% amazing! But also everytime I got a question wrong, or there was something I didnt understand, I wrote it down. Took notes, also came up with quirky ways to remember things, and made mental connections...visualized me being the nurse in that scenario. And also I was told UWorld was helpful, so I looked it up, and just did the sample 25 questions. (I refused to pay for another program). I fasted, prayed, and...SO FINALLY ON MY 5TH TIME OF TRYING IN AUGUST OF 2016 I WAS SUCCESSFUL AND PASSED!!!!!! TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!!!! 75 questions, 3hrs, 30+ SATA, about 2 pictures, 1 put in order, and no math. AND my divorce was finalized a week prior, so just saying...You need to be in the right frame of mind.
So to sum it all up...Kaplan- good for priority strategies! Hursts- good for content! NCSBN- good for content & passing standard level of questions!
If I can do it, and believe me there were hardships and struggles I didnt even mention...believe me YOU can do it too! No matter how many times you have to take it, dont give up! Its worth it, I promise!
Passed Nclex on My First Attempt
I am a foreign graduate and i signed up for the 8 weeks NCSBN course. It is the best review that's out there. Had i not done the review i would not have known what to expect e.g. question types
I took the exam on Friday it was really challenging but i prayed and the Lord saw me through. Because the exam was hard i was nervous but i did the PVT and got the good pop up.
I would recommend this plan to anyone all you have to do is study hard.
I went on the board website and saw my license number i am so elated. Thank you Lord and thank you NCSBN

I fail with 86.
Passed NCLEX-RN first try, 75 questions
I can't say enough about this program. I have recommended it to everyone I know who is still in nursing school. I unwisely waited for 3 months after graduation to begin studying for the NCLEX. I used NCSBN for 3 weeks, and no other review materials, and passed the NCLEX-RN on my first attempt in 75 questions. The program is comprehensive, and straight from the people who write the NCLEX! It doesn't make sense to review with anyone else. Additionally, you couldn't ask for a better price. There were many questions on my exam that I wouldn't have known if I didn't use this resource. I would have paid WAY more money for this program. THANK YOU NCSBN!
2nd try pass with 75 questions
Hello all. I'm so grateful to God. First of all, let me say thank you the the team of NCSBN I took my 1st exam under peers influence. I knew I wasn't ready emotionally but the fact that most of my classmates passed with 75 questions I went and I took the test. Please just don't go if you don't feel ready in anyway. I wished I had listing to my instinct. Brief, I failed my first try at 245 questions after my time went off. I used ATI, HURST, and Uworld nothing wrong with these sources, I learnt pharmacology well with ATI, content with HURST and aleviated my SATA anxiety with Uworld. So, I was very confidence. However, when I reached 75 and the test kept going, I lost focus. About 150 all I could say in my mind is please stop, I just want to leave this place. So from 150-245, honestly I had no clue what I was doing. When, I left the room, I knew I messed up. After, I got my result, I felt guilty. Then, I asked myself what else should I do to pass this test. Thanks God a friend told me about NCSBN I gave it a try. I took a month off before I enroulled to the 5 weeks section. Then, I realized I was missing a lot to even pass NCLEX. My section expired but I only went through the reading I didn't get a chance to practice the bank. I took again a week off, then I reenrolled to the 5 weeks course. I was able to finish everything and printed my notes. Then I took a week break again. After my second break, I sat down and read my notes for 2 weeks. I took the test the next day I finished reading my notes. Honestly, I wasn't sure I passed because I only got 17 SATA and that after question 16 singles straight.I got a lot, lot, lot of pharmacology. Then priority question and infection control. The rest was 1-2 questions. No meds calculation, no peds. I am so thankful it's over because it's wasn't easy at all. Remember, "test anxiety" is our defense mechanism but "knowledge deficiency"is our " nursing diagnosis." Good luck to those who are preparing themselves .
Passed 1st time with learning ext - 110 questions, NCLEX RN
Hey, community!
Take a deep breath - I was in your shoes just a week ago scrambling to discover a way to pass the NCLEX RN. My entire cohort took Kaplan which was a program I surely could not afford. I discussed this with a nurse that works at the hospital I am employed at and he said to check learning extension out. He claimed he had failed the first time with Kaplan but learning extension gave him the rationales and content he needed to succeed the second time around. Plus, he mentioned that this program was much more affordable (like 1/5 of the price!!!). A week after graduation, I purchased this course and spent about 6 hours a day reviewing content, taking notes, and completing practice questions. However, you can go at your own pace and do half of that amount of time and you will be fine. I took a break on the weekends, worked, hung out with friends, etc. To supplement my learning, I downloaded the NCLEX RN Mastery application which provided even more practice questions that are like the NCLEX. When I sat down for the test, my hands were shaking, I was in panic mode, but knew after the 10th question, I would be leaving the testing center as an RN. The questions in this course are JUST LIKE the NCLEX RN and most are even more difficult. YOU WILL PASS. Keep your heads up; you will be successful! :)
Good luck and thank you, NCSBN,
Andrew R., RN, BSN
2016 RN
Thank God for NCSBN I passed NCLEX RN. All I can say is that I am so grateful for having taking the 8 weeks course and sticking to the suggested study plan. I followed that exactly and everyday I felt more and more prepared and confident. I was not surprised as I had used NCSBN for my PN exam in 2009. I eel so relieved and honestly it has still not sunk in that I passed. I took my test on September 26th, found out I passed on September 28th(checking breeze online in CA), got my new RN license in the mail on October 2nd. OMG what a week. Thank you NCSBN I know I wouldn't have done it without using this site. highly recommended :). Good luck to all my fellow Nurses to be, you're almost there.
Foreign trained nurse(Kenyan) - Passed NCLEX first time in 112 Questions!!
I took the NCSBN online course and also used the NCLEX Mastery App, because that's what was within my budget, and I was worried as It was busy at work and I didn't get to put in enough hours into my studies as I thought necessary. I took my Nclex 2 weeks ago, and decided to pay for the Quick results.. I Passed!!!!!!
It's DOABLE!!! :-)
PASSED NCLEX!!
I just wanted to share my nclex experience, I took my test oct 11th had to wait 48hrs for quick results (worst 48hrs) did the PVT and it worked. I wanted to thank NCSBN learning ext this is the best review. I used this review, lacharity priority/delegation book and kaplan premier 2016 book. I wanted to incorporate different resources and not only concentrate on one. This was my second time taking nclex and the first time I used mostly ATI and some Uworld q's and failed w/ 75 questions.. I was devastated, depressed but after a wk in denial I pulled myself together and went searching for other studying resources and I found a recommendation from another student who used this review. Since I had nthing to lose I got the 8wks review learning ext and added kaplan book & lacharity..that was the best decision I made,I followed the learning ext review read content and did the quizzes and then posttests and I tried to do most of the qbank q's I didn't finish the whole review but i felt much more prepare plus I finishec the other 2books those were not to long.
My nclex breakdown: 25-30 Sata q's, priority/delegation questions, 10-12 OB q's (my fave), maybe 3 pharma q's, 5 drag and drop q's, no hotspot q's, no math, some psych (therapeutic comm), no pedi, home health (safety)
Individual questions or topics I remember were CHF interventions, restraints, who do you see first, OB & med surg questions were most of the Sata q's I got. It seem that every other q's was a sata and priority and also drop&drag questions about a procedure'for example what would the RN do first ( sterile technique for foley cath)..I didn't want my test to stop at 75 because this happened to me first time around I was so nervous when it got close and guess what it stopped at 75. I was so disappointed when it went blue the screen I thought I failed but at the same time I was feeling confident I was going at my own pace and had a good rythm answering questions and I was ready for more. But thank God and NCSBN 75 Q's was all I need it. I'm so relief and happy and accomplished now on t job searching.. I wish the best of luck to those studying believe in yourself and say positive things everyday (I will pass) and believe it... the mind is a wonderful thing you just have to have faith and confidence in yourself and practice makes perfect.... do questions everyday 100 questions a day break them up morning/afternoon.. don't give up if you went through nursing school you can take down the NCLEX!!! Best of luck and God bless you all. Loren Valdez RN
